The HuHot Backstory

HuHot Mongolian Grill, LLC, is a fast growing, create-your-own stir-fry concept which has been ranked in the Franchise 500, Franchise Times Next 300 Franchise Systems, and inc. 5000. It is currently in 16 states with 58 locations, and knows that with fast growth you must be quick to react to meet demands of the business. Many business demands revolve around staffing and managing employees, and HuHot wanted to find an efficient process to organize applications, source applicants, pre-screen candidates, and onboard employees. Because of this, they knew they were in need of finding a Social Recruiting & Talent Management system. HuHot’s Chief Operating Officer, Jeff Martin, states, “Employee staffing is the largest threat to the hospitality industry with dropping unemployment and increased competition. HuHot launched their search for a system in late 2014. Their goals for the system were to attract better quality applicants, stimulate sourcing of new candidates, and to save time for both managers and payroll. After evaluating three different products and companies, HuHot selected to partner with fellow Denver-based company, talentReef, due to the company’s experience, track-record, and pricing. “There isn’t one thing that you do for your business that’s more important than find, hire and train great people,” said Jeff Martin. “talentReef’s extensive success in this arena really caught our attention as we look to improve our ability to do just that.”

The HuHot Solution

Initially, HuHot began using talentReef’s Social Recruiting, Applicant Tracking, Assessments, and Onboarding modules. Since using talentReef, the HuHot managers have found the system to be immensely helpful in better organizing the staffing process. With the time saved at the store level and the payroll efficiencies created between systems, HuHot was able to see a return on investment within the first full month after implementation. Because of the success using the system so far, HuHot looks to expand their talentReef services with Training & Development and Performance Management by the end of 2015. Martin states, “We’re confident that our partnership with talentReef has positioned us to be much more competitive in the staffing arena.”
